3.2.13 OpenScape Virtual Appliance File

The vApp.iso file contains the customer configuration data that will be used to install a Standard Solution or OpenScape Enterprise Express deployment as a Virtual Appliance system. The Deployment Architecture setting must be one of the two ’ vApp’ cases and the vApp tab must be populated before this file can be generated. WebCDC then uses the input data to create an output ISO file with the customers specific install/config data.
The vApp.iso file contains a separate folder for each server where the customer configuration data is stored. Each server folder also contains a "Patches" directory where patch updates can be placed. A 3rd party tool can be used to open the iso file if sw patches need to be added.
The product install guides (e.g. OSV IUG, OSEE Staging Guide, UC IUG) describe the steps to install the vApp which is downloaded from SWS. After deploying the vApp, the WebCDC ISO is connected to the resulting Virtual Machine as a virtual CD/DVD drive and the VM boots up.
If the deployment architecture is the Standard Solution vApp:
On the first boot of the VM (which includes the OS and OSV Standard Duplex SW installed), a first boot script is run which reconfigures the VM from the lab config (e.g. IPs) to the customer config (e.g. IPs). The next step is to install the product licenses and the mass provisioning is performed which utilizes the mass provisioning data on the ISO created by WebCDC.
If the deployment architecture is OpenScape Enterprise Express / vApp:

The OSV VM is configured to install the OSV Integrated Simplex Image. The next step is to install the product licenses and the mass provisioning is performed which utilizes the mass provisioning data on the ISO created by WebCDC.

The Windows VM already includes the Windows OS, Xpressions, OSCC, OSV TM so it is only necessary to include the Licenses and mass provision.

How to Create
Click the Generate Config button. The ISO image should contain all the configuration data needed to deploy the solution. When the vApp ISO image option is checked all the other configuration file are selected by default.
How to Import in the OSV system
The ISO image is transferred to the Datastore in the virtual environment. When the vApp is deployed the configuration data is read from the ISO and the VM is automatically reconfigured with the applicable data.
